Santa Monica Bay Chess Club

Weekly USCF-rated classical tournaments, with one game each week.

Visitors:
Non-members can enter its weekly tournaments. A first-time player's first tournament is free of entry fee, but a USCF membership is required because the events are rated.
Hours:
Tuesdays, 19:00–23:00.
Cost:
Entry is $20 for members and $35 for non-members. Club membership is $75 a year.

Chess cafe

DTLA Chess Club at ilCaffe

Outdoor patio chess at street level, with food, beer and wine sold at the cafe.

Casual, free and open to everyone, so you can drop in. It is cancelled in rain or high wind.

Sundays, 12:30–18:00, on the patio.
