How to enter and what to expect

  • Format: 9-round open, 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move. Rounds 1–8 run daily from 8 to 15 January at 17:30. Round 9 is on 16 January at 09:30, with the closing ceremony at about 14:30.
  • Byes: Up to three half-point byes, for rounds 1–6 only, requested before the previous round starts.
  • Sections: One open section, with separate prizes for rating bands from under 2200 down to under 1600, plus veterans and juniors. Results count for FIDE and FADA ratings and norms.
  • Registration: Online through the "inscripción" section of gefe.net (select "Open de Sevilla 2027"), paying by bank transfer. The deadline is 3 January 2027, and cancellations up to then are refunded minus 50%. Foreign players need a FIDE ID.
